Nikki Grey Barthelmess is a writer and child welfare advocate. At 12 years old, she entered the Nevada foster care system. She spent the next six years living in different foster homes. At 17, Nikki moved in with one of her high school teachers, who later adopted her as an adult.
Nikki always enjoyed writing; she gained confidence when she earned top grades in English classes and was praised by teachers. In addition, she wrote in a journal regularly to cope with difficult life circumstances. After foster care and high school, Nikki attended the University of Nevada, Reno. Soon after graduating with a bachelor’s degree, she moved to California and became a features writer for the Santa Barbara News-Press.
Since then, Nikki has acquired literary representation for her fiction. She continues to work in journalism as a freelance writer and lives in Los Angeles with her husband.
